Stansell Properties & Development (SPD) has received the National Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Certification, making the company one of the only certified, woman-owned general contractors in Florida. WBENC is the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the United States, advocating for millions of woman-owned businesses nationwide.
The company was purchased by Angelica Stege in July 2021 from her father, John Stege. This transition made Angelica CEO and 51% owner of SPD, and she was officially certified by the council in November 2021. While Angelica is the newly appointed CEO, she is not a stranger to the organization, as she has grown up in the business and has personally worked there for more than half a decade.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to lead at SPD, and I am excited to continue to learn and grow in the industry. Stansell is an amazing organization, and I feel honored to be able to carry on my father’s legacy as we continue to grow and reach new heights together,” states Stege.
The WBE Certification will open many opportunities for SPD, including access to networks, business opportunities, increased visibility, and numerous resources to help the business.
“To me, this certification is a win for SPD, not for myself. We can accomplish more and go further together than we can separate, and I believe that this certification will help all of us. I am proud of this company and the work we are doing to be a leader in diversity. This is just the beginning,” Stege said.
42% of United States businesses are woman-owned, however, there is still not much awareness and recognition of those businesses. It is the mission of WBENC to gain recognition for woman-owned businesses and create many opportunities for these businesses to thrive.
